Having fun with the camera calibration tag in C4D R14

One of the things I like about Cinema 4D is, that every new version brings some functions I am really going to use in my everyday work. Unlike Photoshop, where 90 percent of the time I use tools that are there since version 4 (the first I used), new functions almost always have immediate use scenarios. So I was very hyped when I learned about the new camera calibration tag. Of course you could map stuff onto a Image before, but it’s so much easier now. The above picture is one of the better URBEX-photos I’ve taken and I thought I give it a spin with the piano. The matching in C4D took maybe 10 to 15 minutes with basic lighting . Then I did some additional touch up in Photoshop and voila, the result is pretty good I think.

I also started making little birthday animations for my loved ones. So when my big sisters birthday came up I added a little bit of animation. Super easy and super fun.

If you want to try it for yourself, as always there’s a very helpful tutorial on greyscalegorilla.

Just Married.

So as you might have noticed there were very few posts as of late. That’s because I made Ms. boxoffrogs an honorable woman … by marrying her of course. What you see up there is our favorite wedding-picture but heavy pixelated and polarized. Stay tuned for more regular posts in the near future. Take care!

New home for boxoffrogs photography

Well, I was not really satisfied with the way I could present photos on this blog, plus I want to keep motion design and photography separate. boxoffrogs for everything motion and pic-cell for photography. I like those fancy fullscreen photo sites so check it out, I put a direct link in the navi.

Back from vacation

Long time no post. That’s because I was on vacation with Ms. boxoffrogs. We spent three weeks travelling through Lao PDR. If you are in to travelling and south east asia is not on your list, reconsider! We’ve now been to Vietnam, Cambodia, Lao and Thailand and plan to go to Lao a second time and do Myanmar (Birma) some time in the future. These are all great and very beautiful countries. Stay tuned for some more photos or go to schmu-und-du.com.

before/after photo contest

I’m taking part in this photo contest with the photo above. I made this 2008 when we got back from vacation in Florence, Italy. Florence is one of the most beautiful cities I’ve ever been to and I thought my panorama shot didn’t do it much justice. In this shot I wanted to capture the overall “golden feel” of the city. You can nearly breathe its history.

Thx to herrseitz for the find.

Autumn is here …

Today it was a very nice, warm autumn-day. Exactly how you would wish it to be. We took a walk in the “franconian switzerland” and the light and the colours were great. Together with spring this is my favourite time of the year.

Emil likes the sound

When we moved from Bayreuth to Mistelbach I decided to get rid of my Teufel 5.1 Surround set and replace it with a pair of stereo speakers. I bought a pair of nuBox 311. They sound great and I also like the look. I wanted to make a photo of them when Emil, one of our two cats interrupted. But in the end the photo with Emil on it looked much better than that without.
